Red Sangria

RED SANGRIA
inspired by my friend Paulette's version

1 bottle Barefoot Sweet Red wine
1/2 cup Triple Sec liqueur
1 orange, sliced (I squeezed the ends to add some juice)
1 nectarine, diced
1 plum, diced
lemon-lime soda (I use a diet version)

Combine the wine, liqueur, orange juice and fruit pieces. Chill for several hours.

Pour sangria into glasses over ice; add lemon-lime soda as desired (or not). I like mine with soda.

See my white wine version here.

Hot Weather Beverages

We've had some really nice weather lately and I've been sitting out on the deck to enjoy it. But, once the heat really gets here, like in a couple of days, I'll need a nice cold beverage!

Here are a few that I made last summer. Click the link for recipe.

Orange Cranberry Wine Punch

I invented this a week or so ago. It'll be even better out on the deck when it's gets warmer outside.

I don't have any measurements for you. I don't think they're that important for this.

I used one bottle of Chardonnay. Make a mixture of these ingredients (orange juice, cranberry juice, ginger ale) to match the amount of wine. (We're making the drink half strength.) Mix it all together and serve over ice.

Less cranberry juice than orange juice... more ginger ale than the orange juice... Something like that! You really can't go wrong.

White Sangria

Doesn't that look tasty and refreshing? It was!

WHITE SANGRIA

1 nectarine, pitted and sliced
8 strawberries, sliced or halved
20 grapes, halved
1 cup diced pineapple
1 bottle white wine
1/2 (2 liter) bottle Fresca

Mix all fruits and wine in a glass pitcher. Refrigerate for 4 to 8 hours.

Add Fresca to wine and stir gently. Serve in glasses over ice.

I used Chardonnay, but I think any white wine would work. And don't actually count the grapes and strawberries. I just wanted to give you an idea of how many I used, it's flexible.
